This is a quick post to give you a link to an amazing resource for those businesses interested in local online marketing that has been recently released, which we will come back to many times over the coming months I don’t doubt.
The resource is a report published by David Mihm, an online marketing consultant based in Portland, Oregon. He creates and promotes search-friendly websites for clients throughout the United States with an expertise in local search marketing.
The report is entitled ‘Local Search Ranking Factors 2009′ and was put together by surveying 27 search marketing experts and bloggers. He puts it together by sending the chosen 27 a massive list of factors that may affect how web pages are ranked in local search results and then each expert ranks each factor from their own experience and provides their feedback to explain their ratings.
I’m not expecting you to wade through the list and make sense of it, that’s my job! Over the next few weeks I will be examining many of the factors in more detail on this blog and giving you my thoughts and interpretations on what this means to you as a small business owner to save you having to do that bit of it yourself, as it may seem overwhelming when you look at the report. However, I thought you may be interested in having a quick scan through to pick up the main themes.
If you have any thoughts, experiences or questions that come up as a result of reading the report, do feel free to use the comments section below to share/ask them.
