Keyword Wordle

Choosing the right keywords for your website is really important. Optimising your website for words and phrases that no one is searching for is wasted effort – unless you don’t want any organic search traffic, that is, and whilst it’s not the be all and end all of marketing online it is definitely worth getting.

Here we are going to go into more detail about how to determine those keywords and keyword phrases.

So, the first step is to brainstorm all the potential keywords and phrases and by that I mean write a long list of anything and everything that you can think of that fits the following criteria. The main point with brainstorming is to not moderate your thoughts; just think it and write it down, think it and write it down…if you start debating each thought you will slow yourself down, extend the time it takes to do it and limit the creativity of your thoughts. There will be time to cogitate and edit your ideas later in the process.

Criteria / Ideas for generating keywords and keyword phrases

• Include your company name; there’s no guarantee that you’ll come up first when people search for your company name if they already know it

• How do you describe your products and services in every day life (although remember that this may not be the way that your target market might describe them); include trademarks and explore all the different ways of saying the same thing in relation to what you offer
