Yesterday we spent a very enjoyable part of a day with our students at Jaci Godman Irvine of Estate Legacy Services‘ house (thanks Jaci – lovely lunch!) helping them to set up their new websites or in Jaci’s case her new blog attached to her existing website.

There are four of them currently working on their WordPress sites and we will reveal them as and when they are happy to let you see them!

We had some initial challenges with one where the DNS info didn’t work properly so Tuija could upload WordPress and the plugins onto her hosting but couldn’t sign into the site to do anything with them until last night – she was itching to get on with it as well!

Jaci didn’t have the required elements in her CPanel until a call (on a Sunday!) to her IT person – Dan from Echo Computers (thanks Dan!) – soon put things right.

Lesley has a site already designed by someone else but used the initial time to finish off her homework before we moved into talking about plugins and widgets (it’s a foreign language if you’re new to it!); the first two months of the coaching programme are all about identifying keywords and writing content. Essential but easy to put off until the day that you get your site up and running and then need both!

Chris sat there for the first two hours whilst we were sorting out the other two issues with a dazed look on his face, like a new father after a few hours of labour (although it only took 5 minutes to get his site online!). He was very proud, and kept telling us so! And then went away later in the day with the first five pages on his website, a veteran content poster by then!

So, watch this space for further updates and the grand revealings!
